Bookstores, publishers, and distributors quickly recognized the potential. Système U, Cdiscount, ESMOD, Montbarbon, Hachette, Bayard, and HarperCollins all joined.
Cultura decided to offer Vivlio e-readers to customers at its cultural centers. The initiative was an immediate success.
Divibib, Europe’s leading library provider, has chosen Vivlio by opting for CARE, the DRM system developed by Vivlio.
In 2019, The Ebook Alternative changed its name to Vivlio. This was no trivial decision, as the name means “book” in Greek.
In June 2020, the Standaard Boekhandel/Club group (Belgium’s leading bookstore chain) joined the Vivlio family. The arrival of this major retailer marked an important milestone in Vivlio’s history, demonstrating the company’s ability to grow and support large-scale infrastructure.
With E.Leclerc joining the Vivlio alliance, a giant in the cultural retail sector is betting on a French company for its digital offerings.
In 2023, Vivlio acquired Bookeen, a French e-reader manufacturer, thereby becoming Europe’s leading e-reader company.
Casa Del Libro, a historic bookstore in Spain with over a century of history, is relying on the Vivlio solution to make the transition to digital books.
Continente / Note has joined the alliance of European bookstores united around the Vivlio platform, with the goal of establishing a long-term presence in Portugal.
